The California Certifying Board for Medical Assistants (CCBMA) is a non-profit 501(c)(3) corporation that has been administering a medical assistant certification exam since 1990 and is not affiliated with any other corporation, business, or educational program. CCBMA is recognized by the Medical Board of California as an approved certification agency.
A California Certified Medical Assistant (CACMA) meets the established qualifications and passes the comprehensive objective examination we administer. Medical assistants are not required to be certified or licensed by the State of California, however some employers may require certification as a condition of employment.
Our Mission
Our mission is to provide a pathway for California medical assistants to demonstrate professional competency, to encourage career development through continuing education and recertification, and to promote public safety by continually improving the certification programs to reflect the changing needs of healthcare.
