Medical Certification

The California Certifying Board for Medical Assistants has been administering the California Certified Medical Assistant (CCMA) exam since 1990. CCBMA is an approved certification agency recognized by the Medical Board of California.

Mission Statement

The mission of the California Certifying Board for Medical Assistants is to provide a pathway for California medical assistants to demonstrate professional competency, to encourage career development through continuing education and recertification, and to promote public safety by continually improving the certification programs to reflect the changing needs of healthcare.

Our top priority is the health and well being of staff, candidates and the community as we continue to serve your certification and recertification needs.

Pearson Vue has opened up a limited number of testing centers for CCBMA candidates to schedule and take their exams. Pearson Vue will follow the recommended CDC guidelines for "social distancing" and will allow candidates to wear face masks and gloves. 

 A copy of your US Government issued ID (Driver's license, ID card or passport) is required with all certification applications submitted.
